Dirty Heads Celebrate The Success of The Largest Volunteer Beach Cleanup Event in Hometown of Huntington Beach

Southern California’s favorite reggae/hip-hop band Dirty Heads are wrapping up Earth Month and celebrating the success of the largest volunteer beach cleanup event in their hometown of Huntington Beach, CA, which took place on Earth Day, April 22. The band joined forces with Orange County Coastkeeper to host the event, along with promotional support from KIND Snacks, Wahoo’s Fish Taco and The World Famous KROQ. The cleanup attracted 1,390 volunteers who collected and removed nearly 600 pounds of trash from Huntington State Beach.

The beach has played a major role in the lives of the Dirty Heads and their music. Their connection to the ocean has had a positive impact on each band member and influenced their core sound. “Our beaches have given us a life time of inspiration, memories, and education,” Dirty Heads percussionist Jon Olazabal reflected. “As kids it was our babysitter and as adults, our therapist.”

To continue their commitment to give back and help protect the environment, the Dirty Heads will be partnering with the organization Plus 1, pinning $1 of every ticket sale to benefit the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). With the help of Plus 1, Dirty Heads fans will be able to participate in positive change. NRDC covers a wide range of environmental work including Climate Change, Communities, Energy, Food, Health, Oceans, Water and The Wild. The NRDC also works to protect our seas from pollution and exploitation – something that Dirty Heads feels passionate about. Watch a message from singer Jared Watson about the band’s commitment to environmental initiatives:

Fresh off of a national television performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! of their hit single “Celebrate,” which is currently #11 at Alternative Radio this week, the Dirty Heads are gearing up for a Summer tour across the U.S. in support of the new album SWIM TEAM, which will continue benefitting the environment along the way.
