El Dusty Releases Single “Nueva Generación” Ft. Ozomatli, Chali 2na, and Mr. Vallenato

Latin Grammy nominated artist, DJ and Producer, El Dusty drops a powerful new track “Nueva Generación” with Ozomatli, Chali 2na, and Mr. Vallenato! The new track is dropped last Friday through Dusty’s label Americano Label.

When El Dusty first met Ozomatli at their Corpus Christi show back in the ’90s, he handed Wil-Dog a CD from his first band El Sancho. It would be 5 years later that Wil-Dog and El Dusty serendipitously bumped into each other and connected again. That faithful day launched what would become a long friendship between the band and El Dusty.

El Dusty reflects, “Ozomalti have always been heroes and inspiration to me. I’ve always wanted to work with them since I found their cd in a promo bin at the radio station I was interning at back in the late ’90s. I met them along the way and finally got a chance to work with them on the new song “Nueva Generación.”

El Dusty continues, “I hit them up to see if they wanted to do a song together, and they sent a full demo tape – with the horns and the accordion riffs from Mr. Vallenato. I loved the idea and did my thing – flipped it and chopped it up, and crunked it into an OZO/El Dusty song, along with Chali 2na the track is fire.”

The new song was finalized at Ozomatli’s studio in L.A., and at El Dusty’s AirBnB. Finishing touches were made at the Americano Label studio in Corpus Christi, TX.

The new song is a powerful force, Ozomatli comments, “‘Nueva Generación’ was composed as a way to pay homage to the generation of activist before us and the new generation of activist that continue the fight today.”

The band continues, “The current state of political turmoil and social unrest around the world and especially the country we call home served as inspiration for the songs lyrical content. Race, gender, class, distribution of wealth, immigration and many other issues are at the forefront of a divide that has plagued the United States since its inception. It feels as though we are at the tipping point and not since the 1960s have we seen such a groundswell from youth movements, ready to organize and tackle many issues afflicting underserved communities in the United States.

Ozomatli was born from a similar movement, fighting for workers rights and social issues in Los Angeles and eventually across the globe.”

The new song is out on Friday with Americano Label, an imprint started by El Dusty with the mission to bring various Latin styles to the forefront of dance music.
