Music We Missed Part 1: Albums

What’s Up Everyone, 2020 has been a very odd year on both the micro and macro scale. Instead of us doing a traditional recap of 2020. We will close out this oddity of a year and bring in what we all hope as a better, brighter year in 2021 with a series of post, which focuses on what we missed during our downtime. Each post will be themed/focused on a specific range of music and visuals that the music community has released since summer. With this being part 1 of this series, we will begin by focusing on Albums we missed. So, here we go…

Arise Roots – Pathways
Arise Roots released their long awaited album Pathways over the summer and it featured several hit songs like ” Lions in the Jungle” and “Come and Get It”, which helped the Los Angeles based band propel to the next level. Pathways also featured several high profile assists from the likes Slightly Stooped, Eric Rachmany of Rebelution, Nattali Rize, Lutan Fyah and Turbulence.

Chicano Batman – Invisible People
Invisible People the follow up to Freedom Is Free is a departure of what Chicano Batman was known for. By flipping their initial oldies sound, while ading an Indie Rock flavor with an 80s twist as the foursome reinvent their sound. Invisible People is a great album with hit tracks like “Color My Life” , “Pink Elephant” and my personal favorte “Bella”. These well renouned artists that once played your Qienceniera are now dominating our earphones and we cant wait to hear what they release next.

Kid Cudi – Man On The Moon III: The Chosen

Kid Cudi has retuned with his much anticipated third chapter of his Man On The Moon series, with Man On The Moon III: The Chosen. This album really takes things back to the MOTM series with beat choices, and storytelling as his previous two were like audio-only films, and this album is no different. Each track paints images in the listeners mind. These are the standout tracks i believe you should definetly listen to “Tiquila Shots”, “Sept 16”, and “Lord I Know”.

The Late Ones – Lately EP

The brother/cousin Reggae-Rap band from Hawaii have been working diligently for the past few couple of years releasing several singles and performing at Caliroots, which led them to sign with Easy Star Records. Their latest release Lately is The Lates Ones first EP under their new home. This 4 track EP is a great introduction to the main stream audience, with tracks like “Babylon Exists” and “The Noose” it shows exactly what message they want to put out.

Protoje – In Search of Lost Time

In the early part of the summer Protoje released his 6th studio album with In Search of Lost Time, which takes you through a journey of rhythm, rhymes, storytelling, and amazing sounds. While keeping his feature count low he brings in assists from some of today’s hottest artists like Wiz Khalifa, Popcaan, Koffee, and rising artist Lila Iké. This album is one of his best albums to date and it features songs like “Self Destruct”, “Switch It Up” and “Strange Happenings”.

These are the 5 albums we missed in 2020, so come back tomorrow as we do part 2 of the Music We Missed series, focuing on singles that hit the airwaves and stream apps in he last 6 to 7 months. For the meantime keep safe, respect others, and let’s finish 2020 on a positive note…
