Opie Ortiz Releases Second Single “Mi Yard” From Upcoming Opie & Family Project

Opie Ortiz frontman of Long Beach Dub Allstars has released his second single “Mi Yard” from his new solo project, Opie & Family, on all digital platforms. The  Opie & Family’s debut album is titled “Sound Sensations Vol. 1“, and it’s set to release on September 10th via Regime Music Group.

“The song ‘Mi Yard” is about a mad dog terrorizing a small town with everyone being scared, and then the news about his death spreading over town, commented Opie. “This was one of the last songs we wrote for the record, but it came about very quickly. My producer and writing partner Jesse Wagner was encouraging me to keep writing and he made it really easy for me to get my sound across to the masses. This record has a lot of contrast between the songs with stuff like fantasy writing about a mad dog terrorizing a town and then it has songs about love vibes or a song about colonialism.”

Opie & Family’s “Sound Sensations Vol. 1” was co-written between Opie Ortiz and The Aggrolites frontman Jesse Wagner, who also produced the record with additional engineering and mixing by Chris Brennan (The Aggrolites, The Expanders). The album is a sonic journey into a vortex of easy-going roots reggae and Irie feel-good vibrations.

“Sound Sensations Vol. 1” is Opie Optiz’s debut solo effort after becoming a legendary figurehead within the West Coast reggae-rock scene. Ortiz was a founding member of Long Beach Dub Allstars alongside former Sublime members Ras MG, Eric Wilson, Bud, Ras-1, and Miguel from Skunk Records. The group picked up the torch and helped usher in the next generation of rock-reggae. Last year, Long Beach Dub Allstars returned with a new self-titled album that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart.
